Five Minutes Interview at London Design Festival: “They have a book scanner at home and don’t even realise that”. Juliano Spyer, MSc Digital Anthropology, is one-half of the duo that will be presenting “Homer”, a prototype book scanner made of everyday objects and open source software at the event. Currently, he is doing a Digital Anthropology research relating to YouTube. He has written a few books.
Q. What do you think will become of books?
I don’t know what they will become, but I am sure they won’t become games or animations because these things already exist.
Q. What will audience learn from the event?
That they have a completely reliable book scanner in their homes and don’t realise that.
Q. What is your favourite book? By author/photographer, design or publisher?
I don’t have a favourite book right now. My favourite author is Rubem Braga.
Q. What was the last book you read? Or published!
“The Discomfort Zone”, Jonathan Franzer’s memoir.
Q. Finally: Kindle, PDF, HTML – or print? Or e-Pub?
I like PDF.
